Make your Data on USB Drive Secure and Encrypted

We all have USB Flash Drives nowadays. They are really helpful and handy. Like you have to share something with friends, or have to backup something. Then you can temporarily store that on this drives. But only putting on the USB have some flaws. There are sometimes you have to share your USB drive and you don`t want the other person to sneak around your personal files, photos, videos on your USB drive. You want them to be secured and encrypted. So here I am gonna share what I learned.

There are ways for this. Like you can hide them. Compress them to a ZIP or RAR archives and put password on them. But we can use free softwares. There are various softwares for this type of security. Like using TrueCrypt, Remora USB Disk Guard. They are good and free.

  1. TrueCrypt makes a file container. And you put your documents in it, which you want to be secured. And you can make your whole USB a encrypted disk. But you require Administration Privileges to make it work. If you don`t have then sorry.
  2. About Remora, I did not use it. I don`t know much about it. It is suggested by cnet.com.
  3. (Recommended) But the best software that I have used and liked over TrueCrypt is USB SafeGuard. It is a nice piece of software and free. And you don`t require Administration Privileges. It works on the principle on making a file container for your files and hiding them. But you have others options like drag n drop, calling on screen keyboard, password hint (1st two), and you can call a Internet Explorer window for web browsing and it is also encrypted and no cache stores in the computer. So feel free to mess around with this software.
