How to Boost Your BitTorrent Speed and Privacy

Hi.People.Today I am going to share an important topic. As we all use torrents now and then.It is a easy medium of sharing larger files with a group of people. And the most interesting part is you can get it all for free. You just need to download a torrent client like uTorrent and a torrent file. But the most frustrating part of it is that the speed. It depends on different things. There is a saying that if you have downloaded a torrent file with the larger number of seeds you will get a good speed but you find at end that the speed is lagging.Whatever you do the speed does not increase. So today I will be sharing some ideas which i found on lifehacker`s page.

Forwarding Port
Now a days we are connected through a router. The router has a functionality to keep open some ports while blocking others so that any malicious attack can be blocked. But that also blocks the port we are using on our torrent client. So first we have to forward that port on our firewall and in our router so that incoming connections can be made on this port. You can randomize port if you like as the common ports used by the torrent clients by default are usually blocked by the ISP`s.In uTorrent, just to go Options > Preferences and hit the connection tab. Make sure all four boxes under the "Listening Port" section are checked—Enable UPnP Port Mapping, Enable NAT-PMP Port Mapping, Randomize Port Each Start, and Add Windows Firewall Exception.

Encryption
Now when ever you download anything or upload anything the ISP`s or internet service providers, they look on the traffic. And when they see that you are downloading or uploading any torrent, they try to block it.It is called throttling. And it decreases the over all bandwidth. You lack speed. So you can prevent it if you can encrypt the traffic going through. So they can not see what you are downloading or uploading via torrent.Encryption means all that traffic will be masked and the ISP`s can not separate with normal surfing. If they intercept the traffic, they will see bunch of codes thats gibberish.
In uTorrent, go to preferences and select BitTorrent section in the left sidebar. Under Protocol Encryption, there are three options: Disabled, Enabled, and Forced. Try Enabled first. But if you do not see a good speed increase, use Forced setting. Check Allow Incoming Legacy Connections if you have a specific torrent that doesn't have a lot of seeds.I recommend to put "Enabled".

Global Bandwidth
The Torrent network is based on sharing. So the more you share, the more you can download. You can set Maximum upload rate to "0" that will make it unlimited. If you are sharing a lots of files then it can hog bandwidth. So if you are seeding many torrents put a value which is good for you.You can test your Maximum upload rate and use 80% of it for uploading. But set the Maximum download rate to "0" which means unlimited.I recommend to put "0" to both upload and download. And download one file at a time.

Queueing
And you can set uTorrent to download files one by one. That not only download the files faster but that won`t affect your bandwidth. If you download one file after another then the file will download faster as it will consume all the bandwidth leading to high download speed.

Try these methods and give me feedback if it improved your downloading experience.
